Interested in getting involved with local, independent nonprofit news and with local programs like Hack the Hood that help small businesses show up on line?

Want to contribute volunteer stories, blog posts, photos and videos to Oakland Local or help run events, staff a table at a conference/fair or work on our databases and directories? Would you like to meet the team that puts out OL's stories every day - and runs our media training programs?

Our annual Fall Contributors Open House - which runs from 6 to 9 p.m. TONIGHT, Oct. 29 - is a great opportunity to meet our team and learn more about Oakland Local's work - and share your ideas and views. Take this chance to meet and talk with OL editors, trainers, writers, photographer and friends and enjoy  being part of a larger community that cares about Oakland.

We'll have Halloween candy, seasonal snacks and good things to drink, as well as time for you to share ideas and tell us how you'd like to be involved.

Let us know you'll be there! RSVP at http://oaklandopenhouse2012.eventbrite.com/#
