If you and your neighbors have any interest in getting funding to plant trees in your neighborhood, this is the program you need to know about.

The California ReLeaf Urban Forestry and Education Grant Program
is funded through contracts with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection and Region IX of the Environmental Protection Agency and will take application from nonprofits and groups with a fiscal sponsor to plant trees on public property

Eligible applicants include incorporated nonprofit organizations and unincorporated community-based groups, with a financial sponsor, located in California. Individual funding requests range from $1,000 to $10,000. Proposals must be postmarked by July 20.

Guideline Specifications for selecting, planting and early care of young tree

She is also a circuit rider for The Community Information Challenge, a program of The John S and James L Knight Foundation, a popular speaker and facilitator, and a consultant to media, non-profit and community organizations.
