KALW presents Smiley, Cornel West at Oakland's Paramount Theater - April 28

In the only Bay Area appearance during their new book tour, Tavis Smiley and Cornel West will discuss "The Rich and the Rest of Us: A Poverty Manifesto" at the Paramount Theatre in Oakland.

The event - at 6 p.m. this Saturday, April 28 - is free and open to all, but pre-registration is required. Due to high demand, KALW had temporarily closed on-line registration, but plans to reopen registration this week, leading up to the event.

KALW is partnering with local organizations that are raising awareness about economic inequality, providing direct services to the poor and building wealth in poor communities. These organizations will be in the Paramount's lobby on the night of the event, and attendees are invited to take the opportunity to learn about what's happening in the grassroots struggle to fight poverty in Oakland the Bay Area ... and get involved.
