New America Media is partnering with the East Bay Regional Park District to offer a creative contest for 12- to 18-year-old East Bay youth to show how they "Get Active" in their local parks.  The categories are poster art, rap/spoken word or video skit. A total of $1,000 in addition to gifts from sponsors will be awarded to winners.

Youth creative contests are a great way to engage young people in thinking about issues and are a reminder them that their East Bay Parks are an amazing resource for them to enjoy with their friends and families - no batteries required! The New Tang Dynasty is one major sponsor of the contest.

Entrants must reside in Contra Costa or Alameda county. Entries must be submitted by May 15, either by mail or online, and can be in any language, although if an entry is not in English, an English translation must be provided.

Winners will be selected by a panel of judges and featured in an exhibit at the district's Healthy Parks Healthy People Festival in June, and in print and online publications of the East Bay Regional Park District.
