January 29, 1:30 PM--During last night's Occupy Oakland actions, a group of protesters broke into City Hall and occupied the building. While inside the space, they vandalized it, knocking over the original architect's model of  City Hall. In addition, they reportedly destroyed childrens' artwork placed in the lobby as part of an exhibit on recycling.

n a morning tour for "accredited press" of the damaged City Hall, Mayor Jean Quan pointed out a room with a smashed door that was actually used for classes for low-income, first-time homeowners.

The City is reporting that 400 arrests were made. Quan said that the among first 20 people arrested, only three were from Oakland.  According to the city, prosecutors will seek stay-away orders for some of the demonstrators and will seek some monetary damages from others.

An arrest list will be released later today.

We should find out where these "protestors" live -- and send a bill to their cities to pay for the damage!

The small-minded individuals who do damage to [the public's] property have NOthing to do with an 'occupy' movement.  What we have here are spoiled brats from out of town.

I PROPOSE THAT THE CITIES FROM WHICH ALL THOSE ARRESTED (NOT OF OAKLAND CITIZENSHIP) BE REQUIRED TO CHIP IN AND OFFSET THE DAMAGES TO OUR CITY BY THEIR CITIZENS WHO CAME HERE AND DAMAGED OUR FAIR CITY.

We tally up the total damages...divide by number of individuals arrested...deduct % of Oakland citizens invoved...and send a bill to each of the cities these brats came from on a % basis.

Occupy THEIR asses!  These people are ONE PERCENT of the "NINETY NINE percent" they claim to represent. .

Anyone who wears a mask and burns a flag is a coward.  The founding fathers of our country faced certain DEATH if the American independence movment failed. They didn't wear a mask.  They signed in BOLD writing their names on their Declairation of their intent.

The twerps who are breaking things here aren't even willing to spend some time in jail for their actions.  Only Cowards who know what they are doing is wrong hide behind a mask.  They are no better than the KKK or any other shame-based movement of destructive behaviour.

This has activity has nothing to do with hitting the correct target.  What did city hall do??

We 99% want the investors who lost our homes and retirement funds by gambling our money brought to justice...ALL of them.  This isn't about punishing a fine city like Oakland.

Go home, grow up &...we'll be sending you a bill.  Tips are accepted.

Hi, R. Gary, I think you normally do jail time, pay fines, do community service for vandalism, breaking/entering, burglary, whatever else they've done. You're proposing that we make their parents pay the bills. Which is probably how they've gotten this far in life. It seems like a bad idea.

Now that was just stupid.  That doesn't represent what Occupy's original intent was.
