Mayor Jean Quan at the Oakland Running Festival earlier this year.
Back in January 2011, we asked you to share you views on what you'd like our new Mayor, Jean Quan, to focus on in the coming year.
Here we are almost 12 months later, living in an Oakland that still has high unemployment, high crime (though some are dropping) and a school system that is struggling to do better for youth. Now, in the shadow of the Occupy Oakland movement and what looks like it is turning into a turf battle for who controls public space such as Frank Ogawa Plaza, we'd like you to revisit the questions we asked you last January and have you share your views.
The survey is short, and there's a place to share your opinions. Please take a moment to fill it out - and help us see what's changed ... and what's stayed the same.

Our mayor is facing a quandary: Segal quit, Cornu quit, defeated on Port Commissioner, lost on all three ballot measures, and Council forced her to reinstate Margaret Gordon to the Port Commission. Had to reverse herself on OO and tell her BBBON supporters to do an about face and like it at the same time. It was a good week for the many of us who are fed up with incompetent ideologues running the City.
Greece and Italy have been forced by their fiscal disasters to find competent non-ideologue officials to replace their politicians, we have to do the same thing here in Oakland.

Siegel and Cornu quit following in the fine footsteps of Russo, Batts and Ballard. Nobody can work with this woman - or so the story goes.
