Phat Beets Produce spent the summer pounding the pavement, telling neighbors about our programs and inviting them to join our Community Committees to help shape the future of local food access. We are now taking applications for both our Farmers' Market and Healthy Hearts Youth Market Garden Committee. Email info@phatbeetsproduce.org for more info.
We were excited to complete our first youth summer garden based food justice internship with six teenagers from the Healthy Hearts Obesity Prevention Clinic at Children's Hospital Oakland. Click here to watch a video from the summer and meet our knowledgable teens.
Finally we are asking our supporters to make a $5+ contribution towards our Indigenous People's Day Celebration: Decolonize Your Diet on Oct 8th, 2011 at our Saturday North Oakland Farmers' Market. This is alternative celebration to Columbus Day. We are trying to raise $500 to put on a day of free hip hop, poetry, art, cooking demos and a culinary colonialism workshop at the market. We want to make sure we can pay all the people on the ground, on the mic, and behind the brush combating 400 years of miseducation to our young people. Please contribute your $5+ here.
…and help win $5000 for Phat Beets Dover Healthy Hearts Garden.

Looking for Office Space
Phat Beets is looking for some office space to use for 6-12 months. We don't need much, just enough space for a desk with computer and storage for a refrigerator, and a bike cart. Let us know if you have a small amount of space to share with us. We can help pitch in for electricity, but being an all volunteer run, non-profit we don't have the budget to pay rent. Please email info@phatbeetsproduce.org if you can help us out.
