I Think I Got Something to Say: An Exhibition on Sex, Gender and Race

The Hive Gallery in conjunction with Black Honey Studio proudly presents "I Think I Got Somethin' to Say," a solo exhibition featuring artist G.Thompson. A collection of mixed media paintings on wood and paper, the work takes a candid look at matters of power in an over-sexed world, gender on an ever-evolving spectrum and race in "post-racist" America.

From the Artist:
"My creative process allows me to explore ideas and thoughts through an intersection of media. I enjoy experimenting with materials and processes in an attempt to stretch and mold them into a visual statement that strikes. When creating I often find that I'm making decisions that overtly challenge "truth" and accuracy as they pertain to the known world. My work is not concerned with the right or wrong way to say something and as such it is not bound by societal mores. It is rooted in experimentation therefore through it I am able to reveal a collection of ideas, feelings and awareness in a visual proclamation. I purposefully delve into uncomfortable topics to open dialogue and invite the viewer to explore within themselves the issues I present."

Free to the Public.
