Friday January 11 7pm, Saturday January 12 7pm
The Crucible is bringing back Hot Couture: A Fusion of Fashion and Fire to celebrate our 14th year anniversary. Hot Couture's fashion show will display creations from fashion designers collaborating and producing industrial fashions in partnership with artists. Hot Couture will integrate bold design, visionary fashion, and accessories. Hot couture will consist of wearable art that will be unveiled during our two night, annual anniversary event. Thirteen artist and designer teams will create as many as forty haute couture concepts, illustrating the intersection between fashion, traditional industrial materials, and fabrication.
The Hot Couture fashion show will feature the work of a variety of Bay Area designers, including: Annamarta Dostourian, Anthony Asterisk, Autumn Adamme, Bonnie Heras, Chris Jefferies, David Dawson, Elwyn Crawford, Erin Mahoney, Greg Ames, Gustavo Fricke, Heather Wakefield, Jeaneen Brunck, Klyph Bohm, Kristin Neidlinger, Lara Grant, Leanne Alaman, Miloh Alexander, Miss Velvet Cream, Nan Eastep, Rachel Lyra Hospodar, Rachel McConnell, Saan Nti, Stefanie Ku, Sylvia Wood and many more. Samplings of the pieces that will be showcased include a stained glass couture gown, custom corsetry embellished with interactive LED sensors and embedded 3D imagery, and warrior couture with welded steel and embossed leather. The evening will also include a special performance on a fire-breathing violin by Heather Katz constructed by Peter Kropf, accompanied, by the dynamic aerial artistry of Rose Nisker, as well as demonstrations in welding, blacksmithing, and other fiery arts. The supporting event will be produced in Crucible style, with a focus on industrial elements set to a backdrop of metal and fire. CASS, our official recycling partner and funders of our youth internship program, is the event sponsor for our stage and runway and is supplying 20 tons of compacted aluminum for the construction of the stage and runway.
