Does your office or business support bike commuting?

The East Bay Bicycle Coalition is now accepting nominations for their second annual Bike-Friendly Business Award.

Businesses can be bike-friendly for several reasons, including:

  • Providing convenient and secure bicycle parking
  • Offering employees commuter benefits for bicyclist, including the Federal Bike Commuter Program and the Bay Area Commuter Check
  • Using cargo bikes in pickups and deliveries
  • Making showers and lockers available to bike commuters (or passes to nearby gyms)
  • Encouraging staff to take a bicycling safety class, hosting a lunchtime commute workshop
  • Offering discounts to people that bicycle to your business (year-round or on Bike to Market Day)

Do you know a business that goes out of its way to support bicycling as an everyday form of transportation? Nominate them today! Nominations will be accepted until March 25.

Winners will be recognized at the Bike Away from Work Party on May 12 and will receive a business membership in the East Bay Bicycle Coalition, official recognition as a "Bike-Friendly Business" and a collection of bike maps, bike lights, stickers, lapel pins and more.
