From Leslie Cleaver Wood of the newly formed Longfellow Community Association:
Please join us for our first ever Longfellow Community Association Planning Meeting! Let’s come together to create an official Community Group and work together to address the needs and concerns of our beautifully diverse community.
(Note: Longfellow spans from 52nd street & the 580 Fwy (north to south) & from Adeline Street & the 24 Fwy (west to east).)
We do not currently have a strong, widely recognized voice when neighborhood issues arise. For instance the city did not know who to contact for outreach concerns for the proposed Bike Lane on 40th Street. Consequently, we were initially left out of the loop.
Other current neighborhood issues that warranted a resident discussion were the use of a parking lot at Linden Park, a proposal for a Verizon Telecom Tower across from NOCCS and a set of grant proposals community members are submitting in hopes of expanding our greening work.
We want our community to have an active role in planning and nurturing the future of our neighborhood. If you are interested please join us!
When: Thursday, March 4th @ 7pm
Where: NOCCS (North Oakland Community Charter School) , 1000 42nd Street, Oakland, ca 94608
What: Discuss structure, focus topics, board nominations, possible future actions and operations & logistics
Who: All residents of Longfellow
Please print out the attached flyer and share it with your neighbors. The more neighbors we have involved, the stronger our community voice will be!
