Get together with Oakland Local: Join our group!

Come as you are to Oakland Local's meetup!

Come as you are to Oakland Local's meetup!

The fun part about Oakland Local is getting out into the community and meeting people. But it's always easier to get together with folks when everyone knows when and where the party is!

So we've started an Oakland Local group on Join that group (it's free) if you want to find out about Oakland Local get-togethers and our other events.

Our plan is to have one monthly general meetup. Our first will be next Monday, Nov. 16, at TechLiminal coworking space in downtown Oakland. Please RSVP.

We plan to move our monthly meetup around to different parts of the city, to make it convenient for residents of various neighborhoods. If you'd like to suggest a location, please comment below.

In addition, we plan to begin having regular "office hours" at TechLiminal and other locations, so community members can walk in and talk about what they'd like to see on the site, how to post content and use the site, or anything else about Oakland or Oakland Local. These will be announced on the group. If you join, you'll automatically get advance announcements via e-mail or shared calendars.

And our reporter Amy Gahran -- in the proud tradition of journalism -- is on a quest to find good dive bars in Oakland. She'll lead occasional dive bar crawls. To suggest a dive bar, please comment below or e-mail Amy.

All of these events are free unless otherwise indicated.

Again, please join our group to make sure you get all of our event announcements, and to RSVP.

About Amy Gahran

Amy Gahran is an itinerant troublemaker and info provocateur who moved to Oakland CA after spending 14 years in Boulder, CO. Her background is as a journalist, editor, and managing editor mainly covering energy, environment, and business. For the last 12 years she's been happily and gainfully self-employed, mostly helping organizations, institutions, and individuals wrap their brains around the internet. Speaking of brains, Amy is also Oakland Local's official zombie reporter.
