The new year is almost here and there are tons of ways you can say goodbye to the 1st decade of the century and get ready to usher in the next. There's a long list of events from the wild ruckus to quiet reflections. Here are some of our favorites.
Arsimona's New Year's Eve
Say goodbye 2009 and ring in 2010 in style at Arsimona, voted Best of the East Bay by Oakland Magazine. The night features 3 rotating DJ's, complimentary appetizers, party favors, balloon drop and a champagne toast.

New Year's Eve Balkan Bash
New Year's Eve at Ashkenaz is traditionally an all-night affair of Balkan music and dance hosted by Edessa, in honor of the late Ashkenaz founder David Nadel and the music he first featured at his world dance club. This year's event includes the Balkan folk music of Edessa, Brass Menazeri's wild brass band approach, Joe Finn & Leslie Bonnett's Scandinavian and Cajun music, and dance lessons with New York's Steve Kotansky.

Devin the Dude w/Ro Knew & Influence
Known more for wild parties than guns and bullets, Devin the Dude has carved his own unique niche in hip hop culture, becoming everybody's favorite guilty pleasure in the process and working with everyone from Jay-Z and Snoop Dogg to Raphael Saadiq.

A Mellow Evening with 3 Classic Jazz Singers
Spend New Year's Eve with Robin Gregory, Ed Reed and club owner Anna De Leon as they treat the audience to a program of jazz standards and classics from the Great American Songbook. With Dee Spencer joins on piano, Erich Hunt on bass and Jimmy Robinson on drums.

USS Hornet New Year's Eve
Ring in the new year aboard the USS Hornet with live music from 16-piece big band 3 O'Clock Jump, party favors, a silent auction, cash bars and food concessions, midnight countdown and a spectacular view of the Bay Area skyline. There'll be three dance floors and free dance lessons by Fred Astaire's former instructor.

A Red Carpet Bollywood Affair
This huge New Year's Eve bash sells out every year and this year should be no exception. DJ Akhil Talreja will be on hand from Mumbai spinning a mix of Bollywood, bhangra, hip-hop, disco and more while Mona Sampath Dance Company will be performing throughout the night. They'll also be a kids area, dinner buffet, party favors and a champagne toast.

24th Annual Japanese New Year Bell Ringing Ceremony
Say goodbye to 2009 with family and friends by taking a swing at a giant temple bell! Everyone and their loved ones can participate in the fun, festive, and memorable custom of striking a 16th-century Japanese temple bell on New Year’s Eve to usher in the start of a prosperous and joyous New Year. Festivities also include a bamboo flute performance and art activities.

Ledisi's New Year's Celebration
Oakland's Grammy nominated chanteuse takes over Yoshi's San Francisco for one night. After the success of 2007's Lost & Found, Ledisi was catapulted into the national spotlight and has spent the last 2 years touring and working on her follow up album, which she describes as much more free and vocally adventurous than her last effort. If you've seen a Ledisi live you know she's already pretty adventurous, veering from New Orleans juke joint to Baptist church choir. This performance should really be something special.
