For the first time in a year, Oakland Housing Authority (OHA) is opening its waitlist, inviting pre-applications for nine (9) different Public Housing and  Project-Based Voucher Sites throughout Oakland. Preapp|ications  will be accepted during a five (5) day period, from 12:01 a.rn., Monday, September 24, 2012 through 11:59 p.m., Friday,  September 28, 2012, using a web-based submission process only.  No paper applications!

The web URL to submit at is http://www.ohaWaitlist.com

For the third time, OHA will partner with the Oakland Public Library (OPL) and Community Based Organizations (CBOS) to provide access to computers and on-site  technical assistance.

Once the waitlist closes on September 28th, there will be a computerized lottery that will be run by  an independent third party vendor. During the lottery, each completed pre-application will be assigned a number and drawn at random.

Pre-applications selected in the lottery will be ranked by preferences established in  administrative policies that weight scores for applicants who are  veterans, elderly, disabled, or who live or work in Oakland. Through the lottery system, approximately 8,000 households will  be chosen for all locations included in this Waítlist opening.

Notifications of lottery results will be sent to all applicants Within 120  days of the close of the waitlist--by April, 2013.
