National Night Out: Parties everywhere, including your neighborhood - TONIGHT!

National Night Out 2011 on Wilbur Street in Oakland

National Night Out 2011 on Wilbur Street in Oakland

Tonight - Tuesday, Aug. 7 - is the night for an Oakland favorite - when hundreds of National Night Out block parties take place across the city, as well as the rest of the country.

Neither the city of Oakland or the National Night Out organization shares a list of local parties, but Oakland Local has assembled a list of some of the parties that have been actively reaching out to locals and neighbors via social media and the web.

If you're a neighbor in one of these areas, you're welcome to join in. Most parties are from 6:30 to 9 p.m. and are held outside, geared to allow neighbors to meet one another.

Is there anything like a rooftop bar in Oakland to enjoy the night? I've recently been to such a bar and the view was amazing, I would really love to repeat the experience somewhere in Oakland!
